Hello I will be your guide!
Bernadette Fowler grew up (and still lives in) a rural New Brunswick community with a rich history that dates back to the Acadian and Loyalist roots of the province. A passion for that local history found a home when she was introduced to historical re-enacting nearly 30 years ago
In the years that followed, her living history experiences and research would combine with her skills as a clothing maker – a former job – and her love of cooking, to turn her pastime into gainful employment.
From preparing period-appropriate meals over an open fire to learning the ins and outs of baking in the cob (clay) oven that she and her husband built, to 18th century specifications, in their backyard, Bernadette has gained broad experience in the dishes,
methods and implements of cooking from Medieval times to the court of King Louis XIV to colonial North America. Today she makes regular appearances at Place Fort La Tour conducting period cooking demonstrations.
Bernadette is also a sought-after tailor for those seeking authentic period garments and also works as a tour guide in and around Saint John.
